The recent high jewelry auction, which also featured the sale of a 10-carat blue diamond, was “a celebration of color.”
Five new watches from TAG Heuer
TAG Heuer has updated the men’s and women’s Carerra models for 2014 ahead of a new and “very different” advertising campaign slated to launch in June.
The LVMH-owned brand increased the size of its women’s Carerra watches from 27 mm to 28 and 32 mm, with watches in the line priced between $2,700 and $8,000.
Rose gold and gray touches were among the additions to its new men’s models. The use of rose gold and gray in watches was prevalent throughout the recent Baselworld show, which took place March 27 to April 3, as many brands paired the muted, neutral tone with the warm metal.
TAG Heuer also introduced a new Carerra 1887 at the show with larger numerals.
New last year, the 1887 was designed by the retiring Jack Heuer, who started the Carerra line 50 years ago. The watch pioneer drew inspiration from a vintage Heuer pocket watch in creating the timepiece and put the crown and push button at the top as an aid to left-handed people such as himself. The “1887” is a nod to the year Heuer’s great-grandfather, Edouard, founded the watch brand.
In addition to updating the Carerra collections, TAG Heuer showed new women’s AquaRacer models at the show--backing off the “Link Lady” line unveiled in 2012 when they brand brought actress Cameron Diaz on board as an ambassador--and a new Monaco Grand Prix outfitted with the brand’s in-house movement.
