High graduation, employment rates net GIA an award
Next month, the GIA’s campus in New York will be recognized with a School of Excellence Award, in part for its efforts in helping students maintain high levels of achievement.

Bestowed by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), the GIA’s New York campus was chosen for the 2013-2014 School of Excellence Award for its commitment to the ACCSC’s expectations and rigors of accreditation, as well as its support of its students.
The GIA moved its New York campus, along with its entire laboratory operations, into a new home in the just-constructed International Gem Tower this spring.
“The ACCSC examines student achievement based on graduation and employment rates, and this honor is truly a testament to the passion and drive of our students and instructors,” GIA President and CEO Susan Jacques said. “We’re proud that when our graduates enter the workforce, they will help advance GIA’s mission to ensure the public trust.”
In addition to having high graduation and employment rates, a school also must successfully complete the ACCSC renewal of accreditation process and satisfy all requirements necessary to be in good standing with the organization.
“ACCSC congratulates GIA’s New York campus on their commitment to delivering quality educational programs to the students, graduates and employers that deserve our best work,” said Christopher Lambert, associate executive director at the ACCSC.
The ACCSC will recognize the GIA and its New York campus at its eighth annual Professional Development Conference, scheduled to take place Sept. 17 in Denver.
The GIA’s Carlsbad, Calif. campus won the ACCSC’s School of Excellence Award in 2012.
