WFDB President Ernie Blom presented the honors to DBC President David Gavin and Korea Diamond Bourse President Chang Soo Nam on June 16.
The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council India (GJEPC) was also admitted as an associate member.
The WFDB now numbers 30 bourses in 28 countries with 25,000 affiliated members, meaning that more than 95 percent of the world’s diamonds are now traded through a member bourse, according to Blom.
Elections also were held at the World Diamond Congress, where Blom was unanimously re-elected to a new two-year term as WFDB president.
Additional elections included Julien Drybooms as vice president, Rony Unterman as secretary-general, Michel Schonfeld as deputy secretary-general, Dieter Hahn as treasurer-general and Harry Levy as deputy treasurer-general.

Also during the Congress, the heads of four of the industry’s leading international representative organizations agreed to establish a joint consultative committee called “The Presidents Forum.”
This committee is comprised of Gaetano Cavalieri, president of CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation; WFDB’s Blom; International Diamond Manufacturers Association President Maxim Shkadov; and World Diamond Council President Edward Asscher.
