Fancy Blue and Pink Diamond Prices On the Rise in Q2
Fancy yellow diamond prices declined, however, tempering the overall fancy color price increase.

New York--The Fancy Color Research Foundation has released its data on second quarter fancy colored diamond prices, noting a slight overall price increase after a “relatively soft” first quarter.
Fancy blue diamonds increased in price by 1.1 percent compared with Q2 last year and fancy pink diamond prices by 0.7 percent. Overall, fancy colored prices only increased by 0.4 percent, due to a 0.5 percent decrease in fancy yellow diamond prices.
Fancy vivid blue diamonds experienced the largest price increase at 8.6 percent, with the 1-carat and 5-carat categories contributing the most to this figure. Fancy intense and vivid blue diamonds and fancy vivid pink diamonds in all carat sizes saw significant gains.
Demand was lowest for 3-carat- and 5-carat-sized stones in the fancy yellow diamond category.
“Unsurprisingly, fancy intense and fancy vivid color diamonds of all colors enjoy robust demand in the market, driven mainly by supply scarcity that is not likely to change in the foreseeable future,” said Eden Rachminov, FCRF Advisory Board chairman.
“The situation is different with commercial fancy yellow goods, which is being adversely affected by sluggish U.S. demand.”
The FCRF noted that, according to the RapNet Diamond Index, white diamond prices declined in the second quarter, with the worst percentages coming from 3-carat diamonds.
