Caryl Capeci has been promoted from vice president of marketing to chief marketing officer at Hearts on Fire, the brand announced.
She joined the Boston-based diamond company in 2007 and has since led its global marketing and publicity efforts. Capeci currently oversees the brand’s e-commerce business and digital marketing development.
Michael Rae is stepping down as CEO of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) to pursue interests closer to home in Melbourne, Australia, the RJC recently reported.
RJC Chief Operations Officer Catherine Sproule will serve as interim CEO until a successor is named.
The MJSA has named four new directors to its board, each of whom will serve three-year terms.
The directors are Ted Doudak, president of Riva Precision Manufacturing in Brooklyn, N.Y.; Paul Fuhrman, chief financial officer at Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company in Neenah, Wis.; Stephen Kahler, senior vice president of global sales operations at Swarovski in Cranston, R.I.; and Thomas Kelly, president and CEO of Silpada Designs in Lenexa, Kan.
Re-elected to one-year terms were Edward DeCristofaro of LDC Inc., as chair; Ann Arnold of Arnold Advisory Group LLC, vice chair; Darrell Warren of Stuller Inc., vice chair; Stuart Lee of Sterling Inc., secretary; and Michael Toback of Myron Toback Inc., treasurer.
In addition, Richard Powers of RPP Consulting LLC was appointed to another one-year term as officer-at-large.
Mark Gudus is now president of North America for Spanish jewelry brand Bohemme, an appointment that took effect Nov. 4.
Gudus previously served as the vice president of sales at Jorg Gray Timepieces, and also was the vice president of sales at Oris Swiss Made Watches in Basel.
His appointment marks Bohemme’s expansion into the North American market, accompanied by the brand’s hiring of California-based Luxury Brand Group for public relations, celebrity placements, brand development and digital marketing services.
Day’s Jewelers has appointed Hannah Sherwood as its visual coordinator for the company’s six stores in New England.
In her new position, Sherwood will be responsible for all visual communications, including print advertising, website graphics and social media visuals. She also will create wall graphics, display signs and window displays for the Day’s Jewelers in Maine and New Hampshire.
Sherwood is a 2013 graduate of the Maine College of Art, and
Bonhams has appointed Sophie Stevens as its specialist in the jewelry department at the auction house’s New Bond Street location in London.
Stevens has worked as a jewelry specialist with Lucas Rarities in London, sourcing and selling period jewelry, loose diamonds and gemstones internationally. Prior to this, she worked in public relations, marketing and communications with Hill & Knowlton Corporate Marketing in Beijing.
Stevens also was a reviews editor at Jewellery History Today, the magazine of the Society of Jewellery Historians, and holds diplomas in gemology and diamonds from the Gemmological Association of Great Britain.
