Day’s Jewelers Honored at Maine Family Business Awards
Chairman Jeff Corey dedicated the award to his parents, Robert and Enid, who ran the store while raising seven children.

Portland, Maine—Day’s Jewelers was honored last week at the 20th annual Maine Family Business Awards gala, taking home the 2019 Renys Large Business Award.
The Institute for Family-Owned Business, a local non-profit organization, honored the jewelry chain for its decades-long success and its contributions to the community.
Day’s Jewelers was founded in Portland, Maine in 1914 by Captain Harry Davidson, beginning as a pawn shop and auction center in the Old Port District, according to the store website.
When Davidson and his wife, Sidney, decided to retire in 1988, the couple passed the business on to the Corey family.
The Corey family has led the business for more than 30 years, operating eight locations across Maine and New Hampshire with a total staff count of 125.
Day’s Jewelers Vice President of Marketing and Chairman Jeff Corey accepted the award and dedicated it to his parents, Robert and Enid.
They “spent a lifetime mentoring their seven children on how to manage the trials and tribulations of a family business... Thank you Mom and Dad for your patient, guidance and love,” Corey said.
Day’s Jewelers competed against 157 nominations and 32 semifinalists to receive one of the seven awards given that night at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland.
