Coco Chanel Enters the Game with New Watch Collection

Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel is a character in the “Coco Game” collection of watches and the queen in its first haute horlogerie chessboard.

A standout from the collection is the object d’art haute horlogerie chessboard where Gabrielle Chanel is depicted as the queen. Underneath the white and black ceramic base is the watch dial (all pieces are price upon request).
Geneva—Start the clock with Chanel’s latest “Coco Game” collection of timepieces that made its debut during Watches and Wonders Geneva.

For the 14-piece collection, Director of Chanel Watchmaking Creation Studio Arnaud Chastaingt was inspired by the graphic codes of the gaming universe.

His focus for the collection was Chanel’s founder, the late Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, who donned her signature tweed suit as she was transformed into a pixelated video game character seen throughout the 14 watches.

She is also seen as a 3D character for the standout creation from the collection, a chess game.

This objet d’art is the first haute horlogerie chessboard in the world, according to Chanel, set with a total of 9,236 brilliant-cut diamonds.

The 32 pawns rest on an obsidian base with black and white ceramic tiles outlined by a row of 516 diamonds on the board.

Each pawn was crafted as a miniature sculpture using 18-karat white gold, black and white ceramic, and diamonds.

Their designs are a nod to the brand, from the Vendôme column as the rook pawn to the lion as the king and Chanel’s founder as the queen.

Her pawn is the only one that tells time, via a quartz movement, as the dial is concealed under the white and black ceramic pedestal.

She is depicted wearing her tweed suit featuring 842 diamonds in 18-karat white gold with blackened gold trim for the white pawn.

The black pawn of the queen uses 18-karat blackened white gold with 193 diamonds and white gold trim.

The queen’s pawns can be removed from the game and worn as a necklace on an 18-karat white gold, diamond, and onyx chain.

This depiction of Chanel’s founder continues with the “Gabrielle” long necklace.

Limited to five pieces, the necklace shows Coco Chanel in her iconic pose—her legs crossed and her hands in her lap—to embody the essence of her allure and spirit, Chanel said.

She is crafted from 18-karat white gold, wearing her tweed suit adorned with 731 brilliant-cut diamonds and black-lacquered trim, her hat, and slingback heels.

She sits on a pompon of 256 onyx beads that slides to the side, revealing the watch dial with a black-lacquered bezel.

The figure is attached to an 18-karat white gold necklace set with a 0.50-carat diamond at the center of the chain featuring 300 brilliant-cut diamonds and 46 onyx beads.

The “Coco Game” long necklace takes the sculptural interpretation of Coco Chanel and brings it into the world of a video game.

The design, limited to five pieces, uses an all-pixel drawing that plays on the contrast of black and white.

The character wears her white tweed suit trimmed with black and half-pearl earrings.

The buttons, earrings, and eyes use black PVD-coated titanium while the silhouette is adorned with 193 diamonds and white lacquer.

An 18-karat white gold dial with 24 brilliant-cut diamonds is seen on the character’s back.

It hangs from an 18-karat white gold chain set with 24 diamonds, 12 black-lacquered cylinders, and a 0.70-carat diamond at the center.

Chanel Coco Game Collection Première Coco Game Ring
The “Première Coco Game” ring in 18-karat white gold flips heads or tails to show either the watch dial or a 0.90-carat baguette-cut diamond in crystal sapphire glass.

The Coco Game collection also includes an 18-karat white gold watch ring snow-set with 6.21 carats of diamonds and limited to five pieces.

Named the “Première Coco Game” ring, it hides a secret face that is uncovered by turning the diamond over.

On the “heads” side is a 0.90-carat baguette-cut diamond set in crystal sapphire glass. Under it is the watch’s caseback set with 72 brilliant-cut diamonds.

The “tails” side reveals an octagonal dial set with 108 brilliant-cut diamonds and encircled by a blackened gold frame.
