Christie’s To Auction 35-Carat Sapphire, 13-Carat Ruby
The ruby and the sapphire, which Christie’s calls a “once-in-a-generation masterpiece,” are part of the upcoming Hong Kong jewelry auction.

The jewels will lead the Magnificent Jewels live auction, set to take place May 27 during Hong Kong Luxury Week in Hong Kong.
Both gems, each set in a ring, pictured at the top of the article, come from an important private collector, according to the auction house.
A sapphire weighing 35.09 carats, “The Regent Kashmir” is estimated to fetch HK$65 million to HK$95 million ($8.3 million to $12 million).
Renowned for its “enthralling velvety blue hue, exceptional clarity, and incredibly rare origin,” Christie’s said, the ring is the most valuable piece of Kashmir sapphire jewelry the auction house has offered in the last five years.
“The Regal Ruby” is a 13.22-carat Burmese ruby. It is estimated to sell for HK$50 million to HK$80 million ($6.4 million to $10 million).
Christie’s said the gemstone features “intense color, exceptional transparency, and remarkable rarity,” as top-quality unheated rubies weighing more than five carats are particularly scarce.
The auction house said the stone is poised to be the most valuable and largest Burmese ruby offered at Christie's Hong Kong in a decade.
Other highlights include a 10.35-carat Colombian no-oil emerald and diamond ring (est. HK$6.8 million to HK$9.8 million, or $870,000 to $1.3 million), as well as a pair of Colombian no oil emerald and diamond earrings (est. HK$5.5 million to HK$7.5 million, or $700,000 to $960,000).
The jewels will be on display March 25-28 at Christie's Asia Pacific headquarters, which opened last year at The Henderson, a notable new commercial skyscraper in Hong Kong's prime Central district and the site of the Magnificent Jewels sale.
Prior to the auction, the pieces will also be available for preview in Taipei, Taiwan, as well as in Bangkok, Geneva, Beijing, and Shanghai.
More information is available on Christie’s website.
