Bergdorf, Gemfields partner on collection
To celebrate its new jewelry salon opening this fall, the retailer is collaborating with the miner to create a line of gemstone pieces slated to debut in the space.

New York--Bergdorf Goodman is making big changes to its jewelry section this fall, and is celebrating with the launch of a new gemstone collection that utilizes stones sourced by Gemfields.
In mid-November the retailer will unveil its new jewelry salon, which will include a viewing room to enhance the customer experience in the store and provide a more intimate space for shoppers. Historic architectural details throughout the floor will be refurbished “to their original luster,” the store said, while new features in “pearl grey” also will be incorporated to reflect Bergdorf’s focus on creating a modern, seamless shopping experience.
To celebrate the updates, Bergdorf is collaborating with Gemfields to offer its customers a new jewelry collection that will feature a range of one-of-a-kind and limited edition pieces from some of the industry’s top designers, set to launch at the same time as the salon’s opening.
Gemfields is giving a number of designers “unprecedented” access to its Mozambican rubies and Zambian emeralds, asking them to create a bracelet, ring, necklace, earrings or even jewelry suite of their choice.
Participating designers are David Webb, Federica Rettore, G, Ippolita, Jamie Wolf, Kimberly McDonald, Lauren K, Loree Rodkin, Nikos Koulis, Paolo Costagli, Paul Morelli, Pomellato, Stephen Webster, Sydney Evan, Sylva & Cie, Verdura, Yossi Harari and Yeprem.
The partnership also marks the first time that consumers will be able to shop a line of jewelry featuring Gemfields colored stones at one retail location.
The new jewelry salon comes as part of the renewal of Bergdorf’s iconic ground floor, and marks the luxury retailer’s most important renovations since the late 1990s, the company said.
“The participating designers were thrilled to work with Gemfields, after seeing the incredible quality of their colored gemstones,” said Elizabeth von der Goltz, Bergdorf Goodman’s senior vice president and general merchandise manager of fine apparel, designer sportswear and jewelry. “The jewelry will undoubtedly be spectacular and this collaboration is the perfect way to launch our newly renovated jewelry salon. We plan to transform the 57th Street entrance into a grand gateway, further enhancing the world of jewelry at Bergdorf Goodman.”
