JSA to Honor 2 Journalists, 3 Officers at Annual Luncheon
One of the journalists receiving an award might work for National Jeweler.
New York—The Jewelers’ Security Alliance is scheduled to hold its annual luncheon Saturday in New York, where it will honor two journalists and three law enforcement officers for their contribution to the safety of the industry.
Bates, who started his jewelry journalism career at Rapaport and National Jeweler in the early 1990s, has been with JCK for 21 years, while Graff has worked at National Jeweler for 11.
“Michelle and Rob are terrific journalists with a deep knowledge of crime and the jewelry industry,” JSA President John J. Kennedy said in a release announcing this year’s award recipients.
“The information they are able to spread to a wide audience has been of enormous assistance to JSA in its mission of reducing crime against the industry.”
Receiving the 20th annual James B. White Award this year are three members of the police department in Paramus, New Jersey: Deputy Chief Robert M. Guidetti, Detective Lieutenant Frank Scott and Detective Nicholas J. Luciano.
JSA said over the years, these three officers together have participated in, investigated and/or solved more than 100 cases involving the jewelry industry that totaled millions in stolen merchandise.
Kennedy said the officers’ investigations, arrests and the assistance they have provided to other police agencies have gone a long way toward keeping the jewelry industry safer.
The JSA’s annual luncheon is scheduled to take place Saturday at the New York Yacht Club on West 44th Street in Manhattan.
