Pinterest Reveals Top Trending Engagement Ring Styles
An unexpected gem tops the site’s 2018 Wedding Report.

New York--There’s a new gem trending in the engagement ring category on Pinterest, and it’s probably not what one would expect.
According to Pinterest, moissanite gemstones are the top engagement ring trend among users right now. Pinterest picks top trends based on the highest increase in “pins” or saves. Moissanite has experienced a 294 percent uptick in popularity over the past year.
Following behind at No. 2 are Art Deco-style engagement rings, with a 173 percent increase in popularity, and then oval stones, which are up 125 percent on the site.
The ranking comes as part of Pinterest’s 2018 Wedding Report, in which the social site states: “People are going back to basics with au naturale makeup and venues, and focusing on making meaningful memories with loved ones.”
Pinterest also said more and more brides are turning to “backdrop” necklaces to accessorize their big night, noting a 207 percent increase in interest in the style.
The site also ranked bridal fashion trends, indicating that women are gravitating toward high necklines and sleeves on their dresses, or boleros to go over them. More brides also are opting to wear flat shoes and jumpsuits to make themselves more comfortable on their big night.
Men are also veering toward casual and comfort-based looks, opting to wear tweed suits or even to go tie-free for the night.
When it comes to food, more couples are showing interest in serving pizza than fancy dinners. Snacks, like a pretzel bar during the reception or after-hours midnight bites, are also rising in popularity.
