Lawrence Bock, Caryl Capeci, Amanda Coleman-Phelps Join JA Board
Jewelers of America announced the additions to its board of directors following its annual general meeting, held last week.

The organization announced last week that Lawrence Bock, Caryl Capeci, and Amanda Coleman-Phelps were elected on Oct. 26 during its annual general meeting in New York and introduced at its board meeting the following day.
Bock is the owner of Bachendorf’s, an independent jeweler with four stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
He joined Harry Bock Company, Bachendorf’s parent company, in 1982 and has served as its president since 2000. Bock was inducted into the National Jeweler Retailer Hall of Fame in 2011.
Capeci is the senior vice president of fine jewelry, watches and global marketing for Starboard.
Prior to joining Starboard in 2023, Capeci was president of Hearts On Fire and was the CEO of North America for Hearts On Fire’s parent company, Chow Tai Fook.
Her career began in advertising and marketing with De Beers Diamonds.
Capeci has served on the boards of the American Gem Society and Diamonds Do Good, is a member of the 24 Karat Club of New York City and has received numerous industry honors.
Coleman-Phelps is president and CEO of Nelson Coleman Jewelers, an independent jeweler with three stores in Maryland. Nelson Coleman also owns Bechdel Jewelers in West Virginia.
Through her leadership, Coleman-Phelps helps preserve the jeweler’s legacy—the store was founded in 1856—while strengthening customer relationships and advancing community initiatives.
Coleman-Phelps oversees the company’s Chris Coleman Community Commitment, a monthly charitable partnership program.
“We are delighted to welcome Amanda, Caryl, and Lawrence to our board of directors. Each brings valuable expertise and a unique perspective that will strengthen our leadership and support the continued growth of our organization,” JA President and CEO David Bonaparte said.
“Our board plays a vital role in advancing our mission and ensuring we deliver meaningful value to our members through opportunities to grow, connect, advocate, and lead.”
Bock, Capeci, and Coleman-Phelps join a board led by Chair Matthew Rosenheim of Tiny Jewel Box and Chair-Elect Steve Padis of Padis Jewelry.
Roberts Marks of Rogers Jewelers has rotated off the board, while Julie Keeney left the board when she retired from Fred Meyer Jewelers earlier this year.
