Edina Kiss’ Pendants Say ‘Eye’m Watching You’
Our Halloween Pieces of the Week are four “Eye” pendants, each set with colorful gemstones.

Luckily, these Halloween Pieces of the Week said “Eye’m watching you” with colored gemstones rather than a sinister glare.
Styled on Edina Kiss’ 18-karat yellow gold “Hexagon” chain are four of her “Eye” pendants.
From left to right are a small eye centering a 9.09-carat purple chalcedony encircled by orange sapphires and diamonds with blue sapphires on the 18-karat yellow gold lashes and a large eye featuring a 24.75-carat rubellite surrounded by pink sapphires and diamonds with orange sapphires on the lashes.
Then, there is another version of the small eye showcasing a 9.10-carat orange moonstone encircled by tsavorites and diamonds with pink sapphire on the lashes as well as a small eye centering a 9.10-carat turquoise accented by blue sapphires and diamonds.
Kiss’ eye pendant design officially launched earlier this year at Couture with an initial version centering chrysoprase in her “Faces” collection before additional iterations using other palettes of gemstones quickly followed.
“For me, spirituality comes through the eye; it’s how we see the world, and everyone has a vision of their own,” said Kiss.
“I’ve always loved wearing an eye because it makes me feel safe and protected—like a very chic bodyguard.”
While Kiss is protected by the eye, she didn’t give these pieces the title of evil eye—a talisman worn to protect against an envious or malevolent glare in nearly every ancient culture, according to Amy Azza’s “Secret Language of Victorian Jewelry” book.
“I don’t call it an evil eye; to me, it’s simply the eye. The stone’s vibrant color and striking shape inspired the design,” explained Kiss.
“I could have set it with pavé diamonds and called it a day, bit that felt a little too predictable. This design deserved a stone this beautiful, and a stone this beautiful deserved a design with plenty of personality.”
Aside from the evil eye, an eye motif can also be symbolic of perception as eyes are said to be the windows to the soul, or it can represent the “third eye,” a spiritual concept associated with intuition.
This Halloween, it’s your choice whether it is for protection or divine sight.
Kiss’ small eye pendants retail for $29,900 and the large for $49,900 while the Hexagon chain retails for $47,500.
All pieces are available on the Edina Kiss website.
