Karl Lagerfeld and Swarovski are Partnering Up
Baselworld show-goers will get a sneak peek of the first fashion jewelry collection from the brands, which is part of a multi-year licensing agreement.
Paris--Renowned fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld is launching a costume jewelry line in partnership with The Swarovski Group as part of a multi-year licensing agreement.
The collection will launch in September 2017, though Baselworld show-goers will get a sneak peek this March at the Swarovski booth.
Two collections will be produced a year, featuring necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings accented with Swarovski crystals. The collection will retail for between 50 and 250 euros (or approximately $53.53 to 267.66 per current exchanges rates), at Swarovski Crystal World stores, Karl Lagerfeld stores, select retailers and on Karl.com.
“We feel honoured to be partnering with an iconic fashion house such as Karl Lagerfeld,” said Markus Langes-Swarovski, a member of Swarovski’s executive board.
“Reflective of the creative vision of Karl Lagerfeld, the collection was developed with cutting-edge design elements and superior quality, which perfectly complement the existing categories. We look forward to maximizing our licensing partnership together.”
The German-born designer is famous for his career as the head of fashion brands like Chanel and Fendi, and is a pop culture icon in his own right.
“Karl is the man of accessorization and jewelry; it was therefore the next natural step for us to expand our product range with a fashion jewelry collection. Swarovski, with their significant expertise, make the perfect partner for us and we look forward to launching the first collection this fall,” said Pier Paolo Righi, CEO of Karl Lagerfeld.
The Swarovski deal isn’t Lagerfeld’s first foray into the jewelry industry. Last year he launched a fine jewelry bridal collection via licensing agreement with manufacturer Frederick Goldman Inc.
