Piece of the Week: An Award-Winning Sapphire Ring
This ring took first place in the Evening Wear category in the 2018 AGTA Spectrum Awards.

This week, an editor favorite came to town.
The American Gem Trade Association’s annual gem cutting and jewelry design contest, the Spectrum Awards, took place in New York over the weekend. On Tuesday, editors were invited to the Ramscale Studio to view all the designs, including those crowned as winners.
Among them: this platinum ring set with an unbelievable 20.26-carat cushion-cut unheated yellow sapphire accented with 3.6 carats of diamonds.
Designed by Gross & Currens of the David Gross Group, a third-generation New York-based jewelry manufacturer, the ring won first place in the Evening Wear category.
We tried it on for size (see below), but sadly had to leave the Spectrum Awards event without it.
