Sylva&Cie unveils new pendants at Couture
The traditional Navajo necklace-inspired pieces are set in 18-karat gold with both polished and rough diamonds.
New York--Designer Sylva Yepremian of Los Angeles-based brand Sylva & Cie introduced new pendants and a bevy of carved pieces at this year’s Couture show, all incorporating 18-karat gold with diamonds and other gemstones.
Yepremian said the new horseshoe-shaped pendants were inspired by traditional Navajo necklaces.
“I wanted to create a contemporary version of (traditional Navajo necklaces) that was not ‘Southwestern,’ given my love for vintage jewelry,” she said. “I wanted a version that was vintage-inspired but with an edgy feel for the modern woman.”
When it comes to the designer’s carved pieces, “Most often it’s the shape of the rough that will dictate the piece, not the material itself. Some projects take up to a year from start to finish, some are like paintings that are never done,” she said.
Yepremian unveils just four collections every year, incorporating her affinity for nature and the environment into molten metals and colorful jewels.
Additional information about the brand can be found on the Sylva & Cie website.
