De Beers to Start Holding Auction Viewings in US
Scheduled to take place in late June, the viewing of exceptional and special diamonds will mark a first for De Beers’ auction arm in the United States.
London--De Beers announced Tuesday that its auction sales business will start holding viewings of exceptional and special stones at its International Institute of Diamond Valuation offices in New York.
The first is scheduled to take place June 28 to 30, ahead of the Cycle 6 auction slated for July 20.
This is the first time that De Beers’ auction sales division has conducted a viewing in the United States. The company said it expects to include a wider range of diamonds in the future.
It first started holding viewings of auction lots in Mumbai last November.
Companies wishing to attend De Beers’ auctions and viewings must apply to become registered users ahead of time.
“We are delighted to start hosting viewings of our exceptional and special stones in New York,” Executive Vice President of Auction Sales Neil Ventura said. “We constantly seek ways of improving the levels of convenience and service we can provide our customer base, and this represents an important step forward for both existing and potential customers based in the U.S.”
