GIA to Hold 2019 NY Career Fair in March
It’s scheduled to take place right before the JA New York and MJSA jewelry trade shows.

New York—The Gemological Institute of America will continue to hold its New York Career Fair in conjunction with JA New York but is moving the event from late July to early March.
Management of the jewelry trade show announced Tuesday that the 2019 edition of the GIA’s New York Career Fair is scheduled for Friday, March 8, at the Javits Center in New York.
That is two days before the start of JA New York Spring and MJSA Expo, both of which will run March 10 to 12 at the Javits Center.
The career fair is free and open to anyone interested in pursuing a career in the gem and jewelry industry.
The GIA traditionally has held its New York Career Fair in conjunction with JA New York Summer, which took place in late July.
However, show owner Emerald Expositions announced in July that it was moving the summer edition of the jewelry trade show to August to align with another show it owns, NY Now.
Other industry organizations that typically hold events in New York in late July—the American Gem Society and the Women’s Jewelry Association—said they were sticking with their dates. In October, Jewelers of America announced it would be holding its first national convention on July 28 and 29 in New York, overlapping with AGS and WJA.
What was unknown was what the GIA would decide to do with its New York Career Fair—keep it in July, move it to August or select other dates.
In a press release announcing the decision, GIA Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Kathryn Kimmel noted: “Our relationship with JA New York shows is long-standing and holding our Career Fair in tandem with this important trade event provides our attendees with a unique opportunity to get a sense of the energy and excitement of a national trade show.”
