It's that time of the year again. Yesterday, I hit the JA New York Summer Show, heading to the New York City's West Side for the first of a few days at the Javits.
Convention centers aren't the most fun places to spend those all-too-few weekends, but it turned out to be a pretty good Sunday for it, with dark clouds hovering over the city, and showers drenching the streets. (Not to say the least of getting to look at amazing jewelry all day).
I made just a few appointments and spent most of the day wandering the aisles, stopping when I could see designers who were between buyers.
I tend to be one for bold designs, like hefty chain-link necklaces and massive cocktail rings, but among the pieces that caught my eye were uber-feminine styles, like the tiniest of pendant necklaces and most diminutive of rings.
I'll definitely be indulging in stacking and layering these smaller pieces for fall, but despite the current trends, bolder pieces are never far from mind. Among my favorites were this cuff bracelet (left) from Lori Bonn and this earring and ring set (above) from Brazilian designer Carla Amorim. I love the color gradations in the stones.
Word to the wise, Bonn's lately been playing with "stones" of a softer sort, with this one here a tuft from a peacock. It's set with a hard finish, so no need to worry about ruffled feathers.
