Cast Closes Business, Plans for Relaunch
The jewelry company has closed its three California brick-and-mortar stores, as well as its online shop, for now.

The announcement, which now appears on the Cast website, came via a video by Rachel Skelly, co-founder and chief creative of Cast, that was posted to the brand’s Instagram page last week.
“Sadly, after a chapter of incredible growth, we faced the same headwinds so many early-stage brands are navigating—especially in times as unpredictable as these,” the caption reads.
“Ultimately, the very hard decision was made to wind the company down.”
However, the brand will relaunch, said Skelly.
Skelly also announced in the video that she was able to “reacquire” all creative properties of Cast. This includes all of its intellectual property, patents, and trademarks.
The startup venture, launched in 2021, was co-founded by entrepreneurs Skelly, formerly vice president of creative for Olly vitamins and Plum Organics baby food, and Eric Ryan, founder of Olly, Method, and Unilever-owned Welly bandages.
Skelly told National Jeweler she "acquired the brand on [her] own and will be relaunching Cast as a new entity.”
Previously, the company offered collections exclusive to the platform, developed by Skelly in collaboration with partners like Francesca Villa, Kristy Ford, and Alice Cicolini.
The brand has also partnered with celebrities, including actresses Issa Rae and Eva Mendes, on collaborative collections.
The jewelry was shoppable online, in Cast’s Bay Area boutiques, and at select Nordstrom stores.
Skelly is already planning out how to “recast things,” according to the Instagram post.
“It’ll be a little bit different. It’ll still be that artful jewelry that you all love, a lot of our favorites, some new takes on favorites and obviously some new things,” she said in the video.
Regarding the timing of the new launch, Skelly told National Jeweler, “I have a lot of work to do, but I’m dreaming of being back in some capacity by the end of the year.”
