Jeweler marks anniversary with treasure hunt
Pennachio Jewelers is celebrating its sixth anniversary by giving away four 14-karat gold and diamond pendants, but anyone interested in owning one is going to have to solve a few riddles to find it.

Glastonbury, Conn.--Pennachio Jewelers is celebrating its sixth anniversary by giving away four 14-karat gold and diamond pendants, but anyone interested in owning one is going to have to solve a few riddles to find it.
For the third year in a row, Pennachio Jewelers is holding a treasure hunt promotion. This one asks participants to find four diamond pendants, valued at $1,000 each, hidden in four different towns in Connecticut.
There is no limit to the number of pendants one person can find, and whoever finds their pendant the fastest will also receive a $1,000 gift card to the jewelry store.
To participate in the hunt, entrants can visit the Pennachio Jewelers Facebook page on March 15 to receive the first riddle.
There will be four riddles in all, released on consecutive Saturdays thereafter. The riddles will be in the form of stanzas, with the first stanza giving away the town in which the pendant is hidden.
The second stanza gives participants the starting point within the town, the third and fourth stanzas take individuals closer to the pendant, and the fifth gives away the pendant’s exact location.
The riddles are named after the 4Cs: cut, clarity, color and carat.
In addition, participants who stop into the Pennachio Jewelers store will get some extra clues.
“What is challenging is keeping the hunt fresh and new, so this year we actually took feedback from previous year’s participants and set up something completely different,” said Ron Drost, who co-owns Pennachio Jewelers along with his wife, Tracey Pennachio.
Last year, the Pennachio Jewelers treasure hunt offered a $10,000 diamond and ruby bracelet to mark the store’s fifth anniversary. For its fourth anniversary, a $5,000 diamond bracelet was the prize.
This year’s hunt is called the “Circle of Life,” and to assist with the hunt Pennachio Jewelers has outlined its boundaries, defined by a circle of diamonds, on a map.
“The hunt is full of surprises and even some pirates here and there. It is designed to get people out of the house to do something fun together whether it be with a spouse, kids or a group of friends,” Drost said.
The hunt also kicks off a month-long sale at the jewelry store to celebrate its anniversary.
Additional information on the treasure hunt can be found on the Pennachio Jewelers website.
