ME retailer tests the strength of its Reactors
Day’s Jewelers will showcase the durability of the Reactor watches it carries with a “strength pull” demonstration at the Man Expo in Maine this weekend.
Waterville, Maine--Day’s Jewelers will showcase the durability of the Reactor watches it carries with a “strength pull” demonstration at the Man Expo in Maine this weekend.
The strength pull will use a Reactor watch as the only link between a vehicle and heavy-duty motorsports equipment, such as ATVs and snowmobiles, demonstrating its strength and durability. A typical sports watch also will be tested for comparison.
The pull will be performed multiple times throughout the weekend for attendees to see.
Waterville-based Day’s Jewelers and Reactor partnered for the expo, and will set up a booth there as well as perform the strength pull outside the main entrance.
The Man Expo takes place in Bangor, Maine and offers attendees a range of vendors and events. It is scheduled for Sept. 28 and 29 at the Cross Center.
Reactor has performed and recorded strength tests to demonstrate the toughness of its watches in the past.
A Reactor SS Gamma watch was shot with a double-barrel shotgun and continued to tick; in another test, a Reactor Neutron was used as the lead on a fishing line to hook a 300-pound bull shark.
“We have done many ‘destruction’-type tests on our watches in the past, but never with a live audience. This is sure to be a very enjoyable event,” said Reactor inventor Jimmy Olmes, who will perform the strength test at the Man Expo.
The strength pulls will take place at noon, 2 and 4 p.m. on Sept. 28 and at noon and 2 p.m. on Sept. 29.
In addition to the pull, Reactor will hold a watch giveaway at the expo and sell its limited-edition Patriot watch.
A portion of proceeds from the Patriot sales will be donated to the Boston 1 Fund, which benefits Boston Marathon bombing victims and their families.
