The 3-Carat ‘Bubble Gum Pink’ Diamond Sold for $7.5M
Set in a ring by Moussaieff, it was the top lot of Christie’s jewelry auction in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong—A 3.44-carat fancy vivid purplish-pink diamond proved to be as popular with bidders as it was online ahead of Christie’s Magnificent Jewels sale in Hong Kong.
The auction house estimated the “Bubble Gum Pink,” set in a ring by Moussaieff and surrounded by pear-shaped pink and marquise-cut white diamonds, would sell for $6-$8 million. On Tuesday, a bidder paid $7.5 million for the piece.
Christie’s Hong Kong jewelry auction comprised more than 260 lots of rare jewels, including exceptional gems and signed pieces from jewelry’s biggest houses.
Also topping its list of best-performing lots were the “Grand Muzos” earrings pictured below.
The jadeite necklace below, featuring 47 jadeite beads of approximately 13.3 to 9.8 mm, an oval-cut ruby, and baguette and circular-cut diamonds, garnered $1.9 million.
Meanwhile, the Bulgari necklace pictured below—set with a 11.69-carat pear-shaped F, IF diamond and a 1.02-carat fancy vivid green-blue diamond—fell within its pre-sale estimate range when it sold for $1.6 million.
A pair of classic round brilliant-cut flawless, Type II, D color diamond studs, weighing 6.71 and 6.31 carats, also fell in the tops lots when they went for approximately $1.4 million.
Meanwhile, a 26.41-carat Kashmir no-heat sapphire brooch expected to go for between $4 million and $6.5 million failed to sell at the auction, as did a diamond ring featuring a 16.44-carat cut-cornered rectangular diamond accented with circular-cut diamonds set in gold, expected to sell for between $1.2 million and $1.9 million, and a 12.87-carat sapphire and diamond ring by Tabbah expected to garner as much as $2.3 million.
