‘Jewelry History Series’ Returns
U.S. Antique Shows is bringing back its Jewelry History Series with a private screening of Sharing the Rough, a documentary detailing the mine-to-market journey of a gemstone.
Miami--A documentary that covers the mine-to-market journey of colored gemstones will be screened prior to the Original Miami Beach Antique Show later this month.
Called Sharing the Rough, the film will play on Jan. 26 at Cinematheque, a local movie theater, and director Orin Mazzoni will be present afterward for a Q&A with the audience.
“Sharing the Rough is a story that weaves together all aspects of the love of jewelry and the process of mine to market,” Mazzoni said. “The beauty of this film is that everything you see is 100 percent organic and in true documentary style. There was no script.”
The private screening is part of U.S. Antique Show’s third annual Jewelry History Series, an educational conference focused on the history of jewelry during select time periods. Scheduled for Jan. 26 to 27 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, it is open to retailers, wholesalers, appraisers, collectors or anyone with an interest in jewelry history.
The Jewelry History Series will take place right before the Original Miami Beach Antique Show, slated for Jan. 28 to Feb. 1, also at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
In addition to the documentary screening, the Series will offer two days of presentations. Among the scheduled speakers are Patricia Faber, Gail Brett Levine, Elyse Zorn Karlin and Eric Hoffman, discussing topics from jewelry of the French courtesans to collecting studio art jewelry.
The Jewelry History Series cost $350 to attend (fee covers both days) and the deadline to register is Jan. 15. Registration can be found here.
