WJA event aims to highlight local designers
The Northern California chapter of the Women’s Jewelry Association will hold its 17th annual “Designers by the Bay” event Oct. 29 in San Francisco.
San Francisco--The Northern California chapter of the Women’s Jewelry Association will hold its 17th annual “Designers by the Bay” event Oct. 29 at Shreve & Co. Jewelers in San Francisco to get local talent in front of retailers and other industry members.
At the event, scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m., the work of more than 20 local jewelry designers will be on display. A design competition also will be held, judged by writer Tanya Dukes of InStore magazine, Laura Compton from the San Francisco Chronicle, and Hank Stenner from retailer Wilkes Bashford.
During the event, WJA also will honor Georgie Gleim, president of Gleim the Jeweler, one of the country’s premier family-owned jewelers. The store got its start in 1931 when Georgie’s grandfather opened the first location in Palo Alto.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the WJA Northern California chapter.
Designers by the Bay was established in 1996 to showcase the talent of San Francisco-area jewelry designers. For a full list of the designers that will be participating this year, or for more information about the event, visit the Designers by the Bay website.
Tickets are $35 for students and WJA members, or $45 non-members. They are available through the WJA Northern California chapter and can be purchased at the door or in advance by calling 970-274-2048 or emailing andrea@the-kollective.com.
