Albuquerque, N.M.--Jewelry industry professionals now can sign up to attend the Santa Fe Symposium on jewelry technology, scheduled for May 17 to 20 in Albuquerque.
The conference brings together jewelry professionals from around the globe, including casters, manufacturers and entrepreneurs, for presentations on state-of-the-art techniques, new research and the latest innovations. The jewelry industry has seen a number of new technologies in recent years, from thermoplastics to e-manufacturing to 3D computer-aided jewelry design.
The 2015 event also will include topics such as methods for blackening silver, Internet marketing, investment casting of titanium, digital design and brand building.
The speaker lineup and presentations have yet to be announced, but the event’s website says that details will soon be released.
“The symposium is all about the science of making jewelry and, for me, it is a lot more than that,” said Gary Dawson, professional designer, goldsmith, and previous presenter at the event. “It is the opportunity to meet people who are every bit as passionate about making jewelry as I am and to share and absorb that passion during every waking moment.”
Scholarships are available for a few qualified applicants. Because the number varies from year to year based on sponsorship levels, those interested in applying are encouraged to do so early.
