Alexis Bittar’s New Collection is Kitschy and Colorful
From pineapples to plaid, Alexis Bittar is referencing a disparate mix of influences in its spring offerings.

New York--Alexis Bittar is known for being the champion of fun, over-the top-costume jewelry, and the brand’s pre-spring 2018 collection lives up to that reputation.
Influences as disparate as pineapples and plaid popped up in the first delivery of the spring collection-- slated to hit retail stores in mid-January 2018--but always interpreted in the brand’s distinctive, exuberant style, resulting in a cohesive grouping.
In addition to pineapple, fruits like limes and watermelon denote a springtime energy and are playfully depicted as accents on lucite bangles and as statement earrings, the most kitschy of which is a pair of oversized openwork pineapple earrings.
While less obvious of a reference for spring, Alexis Bittar’s relaxed interpretation of plaid provides a surprisingly wearable alternative to the boldness of the fruit pieces. The criss-crossing pattern of mixed metal shades plated over brass in the plaid selection provides visual interest in a neutral color palette. The design is repeated on statement earrings, necklaces and cuffs, as well as a bold collar.
The pre-spring offerings also features pastel shades of lucite as well as natural druzy agate, crystals and even leather accents.
Designed by Jane Verderosa, who has been the brand's design director for the past four years, the collection will retail for between $80 for a small pair of earrings and $595 for the large, sculptural pieces.
