From tech platforms to candy companies, here’s how some of the highest-ranking brands earned their spot on the list.
Jorge Adeler goes wholesale
The retailer and designer showcased five of his collections at the show, as he branches out from the store his family has operated since the mid-1970s.
The Earth collection features cleaved, faceted and raw colored gemstones set in 18-karat gold, some with a hammered finishing. Pieces in the collection start at $5,000 retail.
Also on display was designer’s Diamonds collection, offering jewelry made in 18-karat white, yellow and red reclaimed gold with diamonds, and the Noir collection, a combination of pieces featuring organic black materials such as black druzy, black tourmaline, black Tahitian keshi pearls and meteorite set in 18-karat gold.
The Jorge Adeler brand is about 40 years old. It began when the designer moved from Argentina to United States with his family in the early 1970s, opening Adeler Jewelers in Great Falls, Va. in 1975. The store still stands today, and Adeler is now expanding his reach by making the lines available to buyers.
Another showcased line at Couture was the Sea collection, made up of many types of baroque pearls, from South Sea to Tahitian, set in 18-karat white, yellow and red gold. Because of the pearls’ individual features, each piece in this line technically is one-of-a-kind, although the designer will repeat a polish, shank or other design feature.
“We’ll come to the scale of what each customer likes, but the pearl will ultimately dictate the design, so each piece is unique,” said Wendy Adeler Hall, vice president of marketing and philanthropy at Jorge Adeler.
The final pieces on display were Adeler’s Gods and Heroes collection, an 18-karat gold men’s jewelry and accessories line, which currently is carried at Bergdorf Goodman. The collection offers ancient coins, including Roman, Grecian, Byzantine and coins founds at shipwrecks, which all come with certificates of authenticity.
