New York--Pantone Color Institute has named the 10 shades that will be standouts in the fashion, design and technology worlds this fall.
The top colors for fall 2015 as defined by Pantone are: Desert Sage, Stormy Weather, Oak Bluff, Dried Herb, Marsala--which is also the color of the year and expected to be prominent in spring fashion as well--Biscay Bay, Cadmium Orange, Cashmere Rose, Reflecting Pond and Amethyst Orchid.

“Juxtaposition of color from opposite sides of the spectrum emphasizes poise and confidence on the runway,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director at Pantone. “The fall 2015 palette is rooted in multi-faceted, androgynous colors that can be worn to portray effortless sophistication across men’s and women’s fashion; it is the first time we are seeing a truly unisex color palette.”
Pantone’s Color Fashion Reports are released twice a year. The reports coincide with New York Fashion Week, as the hues are pulled from the runway and designers’ upcoming collections.
The February report predicts the colors for autumn, while September’s list names the shades for the following spring. (The shades for spring 2015 can be seen here.)
“This fall, designers pay homage to progressive moments in American history, from the seductive ‘20s to the bohemian hippie and modernists of the ‘60s and ‘70s, while stringing together an affection for colors and styling that are innately easy to wear by both men and women,” Pantone said.
