The company had a solid second quarter, with sales of non-charm jewelry outpacing sales of pieces in its core collections.
Former industry editor launches jewelry line
Former MJSA Journal Editor-in-Chief Tina Snyder and Vice President of Kemp Metal Products Scott Raskin have partnered to create Stacked New York, a jewelry brand that will exhibit at the upcoming MJSA Expo New York.
Snyder partnered with Scott Raskin, vice president of Kemp Metal Products, earlier this year to create Stacked New York, which offers stackable Argentium silver bangles and bands with or without gemstones. Gemstones used in the jewelry include black spinel, colored sapphires, tanzanite and blue topaz.
The brand currently offers 30 bangles and 30 matching bands that are separated into two collections.
The Street Smart collection features more delicate designs, with 3 mm bangles that are plain silver or gem-set, and prices are $200 for bangles and $100 for bands. (All prices given are retail.)
The Signature Collection designs are wider, with 6 mm bangles, and all pieces feature a high-polish or blackened look. Bangles in this line are $400 while bands are $200.
All styles are named after streets in the city, including the “Houston Street” and “42nd Street” bangles.
The brand also offers discounts for consumers when they buy multiple pieces: customers get 10 percent off a purchase of three pieces or more, 20 percent off 5 pieces or more, and 25 percent off nine pieces or more.
Stacked New York sells directly to consumers via its website and sells wholesale to retailers.
“The time is now for a versatile brand that speaks to the female self-purchaser’s need for a fashionable, high-quality silver line with meaning,” Snyder said. “Argentium is a 100 percent recycled luxury silver that is whiter, brighter and purer than standard sterling silver. Our pieces are hand-cut, machined with high-tech equipment and hand-finished. All of our gemstones are set by hand. All of this work is done … in New York.”
Snyder has more than 15 years of experience analyzing and reporting on the jewelry trade. She left her position at MJSA in February to concentrate on her role as partner and creative director.
Raskin has more of 15 years of experience supplying jewelry manufacturers with semi-finished precious metal bands. He will retain his position as vice president of Kemp Metal Products while also serving as president of Stacked New York.
Additional information, including images of jewelry, can be found on the Stacked New York website.
MJSA Expo New York is scheduled for March 9 to 11 at the Hilton New York.
