GIA Takes its Career Fair to London
Its first Europe event will be held at The Goldsmiths’ Centre on Monday, April 23.
London--For the first time, the Gemological Institute of America is taking its Jewelry Career Fair to London.
The event offers anyone interested in starting or furthering a career in the gem and jewelry industry opportunities to hear from leading industry professionals, receive one-on-one career coaching and discuss job opportunities with recruiters from companies across the industry looking to hire.
The London event will be held at The Goldsmiths’ Centre on Monday, April 23.
Registration will open at 12:30 p.m. and the event will start at 1:00 p.m. and go until 4:00 p.m. Recruiting and one-on-one career coaching will take place from 2:15 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The event will open with a panel discussion on “Job Success in Today’s Market,” to be moderated by Mehdi Saadian, director of GIA’s London school. Panelists will be Mike Asscher, vice president of Royal Asscher; Nadja Swarovski, member of the executive board of Swarovski; and Michael Wainwright, managing director of luxury jeweler Boodles.
Following the panel discussion, attendees will be able to meet one-on-one with industry coaches to receive insight and advice on making a career in any area of the trade.
Recruiters from companies like Bulgari and and Louis Vuitton will be available, with numerous positions to offer.
The career fair is free and open to the public. Those interested in attending are encouraged to register beforehand at GIA.edu.
Employers interested in recruiting at this year’s Career Fair can sign up onlineor by contacting GIA’s Career Services office at 760-603-4542.

The GIA hosted its first Jewelry Career Fair in Santa Monica, California, in 1991. It has since expanded to include more than 60 events in India, Las Vegas, New York, Carlsbad, California, and now London.
