Lucapa’s Latest Big Find Is a 114-Carat Diamond from Angola
Its latest diamond mining news features the eleventh 100-carat-plus diamond to come from Lulo to date.

New York—Diamond mining news about big finds just keeps on coming for Lucapa.
The miner announced Wednesday the recovery of a 114-carat diamond from the Lulo Diamond Project in Angola.
The stone was discovered in alluvial Mining Block 6.
It is the eleventh 100-carat-plus stone recovered from the Lulo project to date and the third so far this year, following the discovery of a 103-carat light brown diamond and a 116-carat non-gem-quality stone.
The largest ever dug up at Lulo was a 404-carat Type IIa D-color stone found in 2016, named the “4 de Fevereiro.” It went on to sell for $16 million to De Grisogono and Nemesis International who polished the stone and set it in a necklace. Christie’s sold the final product for $33 million.
The mine has also produced a number of large colored diamonds this year, notably a 43-carat yellow and a 46-carat pink, which is the largest colored diamond recovered there so far.
Lucapa said that its latest 114-carat discovery adds to an inventory of large diamonds currently held for a later sale by Lulo mining company Sociedade Mineira Do Lulo. A few of the stones to be sold are pictured below.
