Tiffany&Co. to tackle New Zealand market
The retailer will open a new store in a historic building in Auckland, New Zealand late next year, marking the company’s first entry into the country.

Auckland, New Zealand--Tiffany & Co. is taking its signature look to a brand new market late next year.
The retailer has leased a space in the historic Australis House in Auckland, New Zealand--its first company-operated retail store in the country--and is slated to open up shop in late 2016.
Tiffany’s will occupy the entire ground floor of the building, comprising roughly 4,600 square feet. The interior is being restored under the supervision of heritage architects to ensure that its historic features are preserved and enhanced.
The store’s interior will feature archival motifs that are symbolic of the retailer’s heritage, including the well-known Tiffany blue color, polished stainless steel details with the same wheat leaf pattern that frames the flagship Tiffany’s store on Fifth Avenue in New York City, marble and amazonite floors, and custom furnishings inspired by the stained glass from Art Nouveau designer Louis Comfort Tiffany, son of company founder Charles Lewis Tiffany.
Located in the historic Britomart shopping precinct on Auckland's waterfront--which also houses such brands as Louis Vuitton, Prada, Christian Dior and Gucci--the new store will feature a large selection of the retailer’s iconic collections.
The move is a strategic one for the retailer, as Asia-Pacific represents the company’s greatest region for store expansion, the brand said in a statement. Tiffany also has seven retail stores in Australia.
“We are very excited to introduce Tiffany & Co. to New Zealand and launch with a magnificent store in Auckland,” Glen Schlehuber, vice president and managing director of Tiffany & Co. Australia. “We have many loyal Tiffany customers in New Zealand and have been looking to establish a presence for some time, and the location at Britomart is perfect. We look forward to welcoming everyone to experience our iconic jewelry collections, heritage and craftsmanship that have distinguished Tiffany for over 175 years.”
