Jessica McCormack Looks to Sea Spirits for ‘Tempest’ Collection
The brand’s first high jewelry collection, “Tempest” plays with movement while calling to mind the folklore of the sea.

Taking inspiration from the otherworldly allure of mythical sea creatures, the collection plays with movement to create pieces that have “bold and captivating” energy.
McCormack, the designer of her eponymous brand, looked specifically to Scotland’s folkloric sea spirits, who are said to dance in the moonlight and shapeshift in the shallows, and the ancient sirens who are famed for their irresistible song and legendary beauty.
The movement evoking these sea spirits can be seen in the “Tempest” scale stack chains that feature a series of geometrically arranged setting links that interlock to form a flexible chain.
Its design mimics the rise and fall of a wave, or the smooth slither of a sea snake, while gemstones set in rhodium-blackened 18-karat white gold play with the light.
Across the collection’s 20 pieces, McCormack’s “Day Diamond” aesthetic of wearable and versatile designs continues in high jewelry.
Tempest includes matching sets of necklaces and bracelets available in two widths, two earring styles, and a variety of one-of-a-kind solitaire pendants.
The collection was crafted at McCormack’s London workshop in 18-karat gold.
Each necklace uses up to 580 diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, or rubies, with pendants designed to slide to catch the light with every movement.
The pendants range from oval-, cushion-, and pear-cut white diamonds, to an emerald, Ceylon sapphire, and fancy pink diamond.
The Tempest collection retails from $39,000.
It was released on Oct. 6 and is available in-store and on the Jessica McCormack website.
