2 Robbery Suspects Killed in California Pawn Shop Shootout
Six people were shot last week at an Oakland cash-for-gold shop as employees exchanged gunfire with individuals trying to rob the store.

Of the five suspects, two died and three were wounded, according to the Oakland Police Department (OPD).
One of the store employees, reportedly the owner, was shot as well but is expected to survive.
On Sept. 10 shortly before 7:45 p.m., a group of masked men—four adults and one 17 year old—some of whom had firearms, entered Eddy Cash 4 Gold and began to assault two employees inside, OPD Interim Deputy Chief Nick Calonge said at a news conference held on Sept. 11.
The employees were armed.
Oakland Police Officers Association spokesperson Sam Singer told ABC7 that a robber allegedly pulled a gun on the store owner, who then brandished his own weapon in response.
Upon arrival, OPD found two of the robbery suspects suffering from severe gunshot wounds.
One was pronounced dead on the scene, while another was taken to a local hospital, where he later died, according to OPD.
The remaining three suspects and the store employee (believed to be the owner) who suffered gunshot wounds were treated at a local hospital. They then were brought into the Oakland police station for follow-up.
The attempted robbers were from Stockton, California, about 70 miles east of Oakland, according to police.
The two adults were identified by OPD as Deshawn Tyson, 26, and Charles Gaston, 28.
Tyson, Gaston, and the 17 year old have been booked on suspicion of murder as well as attempted robbery, Calonge said during the conference.
"Because of the nature of the act, and the attempted robbery, the underlying felony conduct, and the subsequent deaths of the suspects, we believe their compatriots are thereby responsible for those deaths and were therefore booked on homicide charges," Calonge said.
OPD Chief Mitchell said the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office would make the final determination on the suspects’ charges.
Neither of the gold shop employees is facing any charges at this time.
