Bonhams New York to Sell Jewelry from ‘Distinguished Collection’
The single-owner sale features 61 lots, including several Oscar Heyman pieces.

Widely known as “The Jeweler’s Jeweler,” Oscar Heyman has been manufacturing fine jewelry both behind the scenes for Van Cleef & Arpels, Tiffany & Co., and Harry Winston and as their own brand since 1912.
The family-run company specializes in rare and high-quality gemstones.
In 1969, the jeweler notably transformed the 69.42-carat Taylor-Burton diamond into a necklace for Cartier.
Oscar Heyman jewelry is of the highest artistry and quality, said Bonhams, coveted by jewelry connoisseurs around the world.
Leading the sale is a rare Oscar Heyman diamond and gem-set “Birds in Flight” bracelet.
It depicts a nature scene comprised of colored stones, which Bonhams calls “a skill of the highest craftsmanship achieved by the great jewelry houses.”

The bracelet shows tropical birds in flight amid floral sprigs set with carved rubies, emeralds, sapphires, onyx, and circular-cut diamonds.
It is estimated to sell for $80,000 to $120,000.
Also on offer is an emerald and diamond ring mounted by Oscar Heyman.

It’s set with an 8.68-carat rectangular-shaped emerald flanked by step-cut trapezoid diamonds. It’s estimated to fetch $250,000 to $350,000.
Another highlight is an Oscar Heyman diamond and gem-set “Mondrian” bracelet.

The piece is composed of step-cut sapphires, rubies, diamonds, and brilliant-cut yellow sapphires set in a geometric design.
It is estimated to sell for $50,000 to $80,000.
“We are privileged to present such a colorful offering in this single-owner auction,” said Caroline Morrissey, Bonhams director and head of jewelry, New York.
“The spectacular collection of Oscar Heyman jewelry showcases the ingenuity of his designs by creating timeless pieces that celebrate the natural beauty of these vivid colored gemstones. It is an honor to highlight a collection that truly has everything; impressive diamonds, vibrant colored gemstones, and classic jewelry designs.”
Other highlights of the upcoming jewelry auction include a 12.22-carat old mine brilliant-cut diamond pendant necklace with a pre-sale estimate of $350,000 to $500,000, as well as a 9.05-carat diamond ring estimated to fetch up to $300,000.
Also on offer is an emerald and diamond bracelet (estimated to sell for $120,000 to $180,000) and a pair of fancy intense orange-yellow pear-shaped diamond and diamond earrings (estimated to sell for $40,000 to $60,000).
“The single-owner collection is truly exceptional, representing a distinguished collection of colored stone jewels from a family with fabulous taste and a genuine passion for selecting and wearing fine jewelry,” said Emily Waterfall, Bonhams director and head of jewelry, Los Angeles.
“We are … thrilled to present the magnificent Oscar Heyman emerald ring, featuring one of the finest quality stones I’ve ever had the privilege to handle. Additionally, the rare ‘Birds of Flight’ bracelet showcases exceptional craftsmanship, further highlighting the collection’s extraordinary appeal.”
“Exceptional Jewels From a Distinguished Collection” will take place live at Bonhams New York on Sept. 26.
