The latest incident happened Monday at a store in Oakland, California, continuing a pattern JSA first warned about last month.
Las Vegas jeweler spreading its wings
Berger & Son has hired a jewelry store designer to help enhance its brand presence and make room for new merchandise as it opens a new, larger store in Sin City.

Las Vegas--An independent retailer in Sin City is building a new store that’s more than double the size of its current one in order to stock more merchandise for its customers.
Berger & Son Fine Jewelers, the longest-standing independent retailer in Las Vegas’ Fashion Show mall, is moving to a larger location inside the complex. The new, 2,500-square-foot space will house an expanded selection of luxury timepiece brands and fine jewelry, with the addition of new brands including Lana Jewelry, Scott Kay, KC Designs and Movado.
The new location also will offer shoppers a VIP parlor with private service for jewelry design consultations, and a full-time onsite jeweler and watchmaker for custom designs, repairs and appraisals.
Architecture and interior design is another major part of the new store’s look: Berger & Son hired Ron Harris, a jewelry store designer with Watt International Design Group whose client list includes Goldsmiths in the United Kingdom and The Vault in Canada, to create a look for the space.
Harris is planning to enhance the retailer’s brand presence with a retail concept that will drive growth, improve visual merchandising and increase the quantity of in-store displays, to deliver a superior customer experience.
The new store is slated to open the first week of December.
