Long’s Rewards Local Woman Who Ran 183 Miles in 7 Days
It was 183.4 to be exact, as Becca Pizzi completed the World Marathon Challenge--doing seven marathons on seven continents in seven days.

Natick, Mass.--Earlier this year, Becca Pizzi became the first American woman to conquer what is known as the World Marathon Challenge--completing seven marathons on seven continents in seven days.
Now, thanks to Long’s Jewelers, she has a golden Heather B. Moore globe pendant to mark her accomplishment.
Pizzi, a 35-year-old woman from Belmont, Mass. who, according to the Boston Globe, has an 8-year-old daughter, runs a day-care center and manages an ice cream shop, embarked on the challenge back on Jan. 23, finishing her first marathon on the world’s least-populous continent, Antarctica.
She then traveled on to complete 26.2-mile races in Chile (South America), Miami (North America), Madrid (Europe), Marrakech (Africa) and Dubai (Asia) before finishing up in Sydney (Australia) with a time of 4:08:51, coming in first out of four women.
Pizzi’s accomplishment--which involved fighting jet lag and extreme swings in temperature, not to mention the physical exhaustion of logging 183.4 miles of running in a week--garnered local coverage, including articles in the Globe.
When Long’s Jewelers President Craig Rottenberg heard about it, he wanted to honor Pizzi in some way.
So the jeweler worked with Heather B. Moore, the Cleveland-based company known for its personalized pieces, to create one of its 14-karat yellow gold globes with a diamond on each continent.
The jeweler presented the long-distance runner with her gift at the Long’s store in Natick, Mass., on Friday.
“Long’s has sponsored the Boston Marathon for a generation, so we know how difficult even one marathon can be,” Rottenberg said. “Becca’s remarkable achievement deserves a special piece of jewelry to commemorate and celebrate it.”
Long’s Jewelers is a family-owned and -operated business that has five stores in Massachusetts. The business got its start in 1878 when Thomas Long opened a jewelry business in Boston.
