2 California Men Arrested in Fatal Vehicle Smash Robbery
One is the driver who allegedly crashed a car into a Sacramento jewelry store in April, striking a 71-year-old employee who later died.

Last week, detectives from the SSO’s Major Crimes Bureau arrested 24-year-old Alfredo Colmenero-Martinez of Oakland, California, for murder and 35-year-old Jarren Frazier of Stockton, California, for attempted robbery and conspiracy.
Colmenero-Martinez was allegedly the driver of the vehicle that struck the employee, while authorities allege Frazier was responsible for planning and coordinating the attempted robbery, according to the SSO’s Facebook post.
Both were booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail, where they are being held without bond.
The attempted robbery took place at a store identified in media reports as Chinna Jewellers Inc. in south Sacramento on April 18.
The SSO said a group of individuals arrived in six “recently stolen” vehicles, including the one that was driven into the business.
The vehicle struck 71-year-old employee Harjinder Singh, who suffered life-threatening injuries and died 10 days later, on April 28.
It is the second confirmed homicide of a jeweler in 2026, the Jewelers’ Security Alliance said in its Aug. 13 crime alert.
In May, 35-year-old Lanessa Rodriguez Vega (originally identified by police as Lazaro Rodriguez Vega) was shot and killed at the Fort Pierce, Florida, pawn shop where she worked as a manager.
After ramming the vehicle into the store, the would-be robbers encountered an armed private security guard and fled, the SSO said.
Detectives worked with law enforcement partners throughout the Bay Area to identify Colmenero-Martinez and Frazier as the driver and the coordinator of the attempted robbery, respectively.
The SSO said Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs) were “instrumental” in solving the murder.
Information from ALPRs provided critical investigative leads, allowing detectives to track vehicles associated with the suspects and connect evidence across jurisdictions.
“Without this technology, this murder would likely remain unsolved,” the SSO said.
The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office issued the arrest warrants for the two men.
On Aug. 12, Major Crimes Bureau detectives arrested Colmenero-Martinez in Tracy, California, and Frazier in Concord, California.
Additionally, search warrants were served at four locations with assistance from the Oakland Police Department.
