Jewelry theft suspects caught in Maryland
Police in Baltimore County, Md. have arrested three suspects wanted in connection with a string of jewelry thefts that had law enforcement officials in six states on alert.

Catonsville, Md.--Police in Baltimore County, Md. have arrested three suspects wanted in connection with a string of jewelry thefts that had law enforcement officials in six states on alert.
On Tuesday, Baltimore County Police said that they arrested 53-year-old Robert Antoine Weathers and Robin Tracey Nelson, 50, at a Comfort Inn in Catonsville.
They were charged with stealing $25,000 in jewelry from Bijoux Jewelers in Luthersville, Md. on May 13. According to police, the two suspects entered the store with another male-female pair. Three of the four allegedly distracted employees while the fourth took jewelry from a safe in the store’s office.
On Wednesday, Baltimore County Police announced that they had arrested a third suspect wanted in this theft, 45-year-old Stanley William Lester Gwynn of Elkridge. Gwynn is free on $100,000 bail.
Police said the fourth suspect, the female who allegedly accompanied Gwynn into Bijoux Jewelers on May 13, has been identified but they will not release her identity until she is officially charged.
Weathers and Nelson also are charged in two similar thefts in Maryland, at Ricardo’s Gems and Jewelry in Luthersville in December and a September incident at Kaylah Designs in Pikesville.
In addition, police in South Carolina, Michigan, Ohio, New Jersey and Pennsylvania are looking at Weathers and Nelson, as well as two additional suspects, in connection with incidences in those states. It is believed the suspects could be responsible for a string of thefts targeting independent jewelry stores that totals as much as $500,000.
Weathers and Nelson are being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on $450,000 bail.
