Minneapolis--On Tuesday, the GIA Alumni Association Minnesota/Twin Cities Chapter is scheduled to hold a seminar both online and off on the profits and pitfalls of professional jewelry appraising.
Led by Appraisers International Society (AIS) founder and President Elly Rosen, the seminar is scheduled to take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Central Daylight Time at Joule in Minneapolis.
It will cover new 21st century standards for appraisal information services providers; corrective gemology for gems and jewelry and jewelry valuation and appraisal; specific procedures and methodology for applying valuation principles and valuation; and value-related appraisal services for consumer and professional client communities.
Those unable to make it to Minnesota can attend, view and participate online via the AIS’s GoToTraining module, the same it has used since 2011 for its global certification courses. (Those who can attend in person will have a meet-and-greet with Rosen from 6 to 7 p.m. and view the video of his first presentation on this subject, given at the GIA in 1984.)
The cost to participate online is $25 for GIA alumni using the code “giaaa” and $35 for non-alumni. Registration for the online seminar is available here. Those wanting to attend in person can visit this page.
The Minnesota/Twin Cities Chapter said this is the first global event held by a GIA alumni association chapter.
