Designer Courtney brings csarite to the US
Designer Erica Courtney’s eponymous jewelry company has launched a new division that focuses on collectible and rare gemstones and as part of the launch will be the only authorized distributor of the gemstone csarite in the United States.
Csarite, also known as Turkish diaspore, is a color-changing gemstone found in the mountains of the Anatolia region of Turkey.
It is mined ethically and responsibly, according to Milenyum Mining, an International Colored Gemstone Association member that is the sole miner of csarite and cuts and markets the gemstone as well.
Designer Erica Courtney will serve as president of the Courtney Collection division, and Adam Graham, who is also the CEO of Erica Courtney Inc., will serve as its CEO.
In addition to csarite, the division also will sell loose tourmalines, opals, sunstones, garnets and other gemstones.
The Courtney Collection won a 2014 American Gem Trade Association Spectrum Cutting Edge Award this past fall, taking second place in the Phenomenal Gemstones category for an 88.49-carat pear-shaped color-changing csarite.
“I’ve been collecting fabulous gemstones for my clients and myself for years, so it just seemed like a natural transition to become a colored gemstone dealer,” Courtney said.
The Courtney Collection will be showcased at the AGTA GemFair in Tucson from Feb. 4 to 9.
