Deadline nearing for Centurion design contest

Merrick, N.Y.--Entries will be accepted through Sept. 30 for the sixth annual Centurion Emerging Design Competition, a high-end jewelry design contest that will afford two winners a showcase and exhibit space at the Centurion Scottsdale show in February.
The competition, again sponsored by Stuller Inc., is open to any jewelry designer, regardless of experience, training or background, who has never before exhibited in a fine jewelry trade show in the United States.
Entrants must show jewelry lines or one-of-a-kind pieces that are suitable for a luxury jewelry store, and must be able to both exhibit at a trade show and fulfill wholesale orders received at the show.
To enter, participants must submit up to three images of finished jewelry; no renderings or CAD drawings will be accepted. Images submitted must be in JPG format, and each image must include a detailed description of the piece: what it is, and the metals and gemstones included.
A judging panel comprised of Centurion’s board of retail advisors and industry professionals will evaluate the entries on creativity, originality, function, production quality, craftsmanship/skill and the judges’ belief that the product will sell in high-end stores, due to the audience of the Centurion show. Typical entries range from $500 to $25,000 or more.
“The … competition is an excellent opportunity for up-and-coming international designers to break into the U.S. luxury fine jewelry market, by getting their line in front of the most premier audience of carefully selected prestige jewelers. For retail jewelers, the Centurion Emerging Design winners offer an opportunity to discover new talent to set your store apart,” said Centurion President Howard Hauben.
Additional information and an entry form for the competition can be found here.
Centurion Scottsdale is scheduled for Feb. 1 to 5 in Arizona.
