5-Carat Green Diamond Could Fetch $20M at Christie’s
The fancy vivid green diamond will lead the auction house’s Magnificent Jewels sale on May 31 in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong--A 5.03-carat fancy vivid green diamond is predicted to sell for between $16 and $20 million when it hits the auction block at Christie’s later this month.
The “Aurora Green” is a rectangular-cut, fancy vivid green diamond of VS2 clarity surrounded by circular-cut pink diamonds. According to Christie’s, the GIA says it is the largest fancy vivid green natural color diamond it has graded as of Jan. 20.
The diamond will lead the Hong Kong Magnificent Jewels auction on May 31, which is part of a special series of sales to celebrate Christie’s 30th anniversary in Asia.
Also highlighting the sale is a Burmese ruby and diamond bracelet with a maker’s mark for Faidee, slated to sell for between $3.6 million and $4.9 million, and a 25.58-carat rectangular-cut diamond ring from Harry Winston, which could sell for as much as $4.1 million.
Rounding out the top five lots is a white and colored diamond necklace in platinum with floral accents and briolette shapes, expected to garner between $2.8 million and $3.9 million, and a second green diamond, this one a cushion-shaped fancy vivid bluish green diamond weighing approximately 2.08 carats slated to sell for as much as $3.2 million.
The announcement of the sale of the Aurora Green comes as both Christie’s and Sotheby’s set to sell two other spectacular colored diamonds this week--Sotheby's with the Unique Pink and Christie's with the Oppenheimer Blue.
