Sotheby’s to offer Taylor-inspired earrings
A pair of custom-designed Bulgari earrings inspired by the late Elizabeth Taylor and her film Cleopatra are expected to fetch up to $22,000 at Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels auction scheduled for Dec. 11.

New York--A pair of custom-designed Bulgari earrings inspired by the late Elizabeth Taylor and her film Cleopatra are expected to fetch up to $22,000 at Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels auction scheduled for Dec. 11.
All proceeds from the sale of the earrings will be donated to the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation (ETAF).
The 18-karat gold earrings feature spinel, turquoise and diamonds.
Bulgari created the pair in honor of the 50th anniversary of Cleopatra, which was the highest-grossing film of 1963 and snagged four Academy Awards.
The inclusion of Bulgari’s earrings in the auction is part of an ongoing global celebration of the Cleopatra anniversary and a subsequent partnership between the jewelry house and Twentieth Century Fox, which produced the film.
The Magnificent Jewels auction, which will be held in New York, also will offer signed and period jewels and a distinguished family collection, including a 24.48-carat emerald-cut D color diamond.
