London--A gold and diamond tiara worn by singer and fashion designer Victoria Beckham during her wedding to soccer star David Beckham is expected to fetch between $29,000 and $40,000 at Bonhams London.
It will be included in the Bonhams Fine Jewellery sale scheduled for Dec. 5.
The “East of Paris” tiara features four openwork lozenges with irregular outlines, each with pavé-set brilliant-cut diamond detail and suspended brilliant and baguette-cut diamond drops, interspersed with four smaller motifs with a central brilliant-cut diamond bombé section. The tiara is 18-karat gold.
Slim Barrett, an internationally renowned artist, designer, and jeweler, who won the Martini Rossi Excellence in Design award and the De Beers International 2000 Award, designed the former Spice Girl’s wedding-day headpiece.
The tiara was featured in the “100 Tiaras, Past and Present” exhibit at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London in 2002, as well as the “Diamond Divas” exhibition at the Diamond Museum in Antwerp in 2008.
“Inspiration for ‘East of Paris’ came from my love of Eastern design and Parisian haute couture, so I set out to fuse the two styles,” Barrett said in a Bonhams statement.
The Fine Jewellery sale at Bonhams also will include select jewels from the collection of best-selling English novelist Barbara Taylor Bradford.
