“I have been extremely fortunate to have had so many rewarding years carrying forward the Weber Jewelers tradition,” jeweler Fred Weber said upon his retirement.

“I have been extremely fortunate to have had so many rewarding years carrying forward the Weber Jewelers tradition,” jeweler Fred Weber said upon his retirement. “Mere words cannot express my heartfelt gratitude for the support of all our friends.”
After six decades in the business, the Ohio retailer decided last year to hang up his loupe, and was honored with his own day in Dayton as well as a retirement party at his store earlier this month.
But Weber hasn’t been the only one braving this extreme winter to have a little fun lately.
In New York, former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Boomer Esiason, a “friend” of the brand, showed up at the Breitling flagship boutique to give his Super Bowl prediction--he thinks Seattle has the edge because weather will be a factor--ahead of the big game being played at the Meadowlands this weekend.
And Fabergé feted its Big Egg Hunt, which will move from London to New York this year, with a party at M Studio.

Held earlier this month and complete with champagne, snacks and a big sale, Weber’s retirement party marked the end of an era at the suburban Dayton jeweler.
The retailer opted to sell off its entire inventory when Weber retired and will focus on custom jewelry and one-of-a-kind pieces in the future. Those attending the retirement party had the chance to buy pieces at greatly reduced prices.
For his contributions to the community, Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley declared Jan. 8, 2014, “Fred Weber Day.” Weber, seen here enjoying his retirement party with guests, was a Dayton city commissioner who remains active on the city’s boards and committees and is a chairman at Wright State University.
Weber gets a hug from his daughter, and the store’s new owner, Stephanie during the party. Weber has received a number of accolades during his career, including being the 2012 winner of the American Gem Society’s Robert M. Shipley award, the organization’s highest honor.

“If they were playing the Super Bowl indoors, I would go with the Denver Broncos, but the fact that it is going to be played outdoors … changes everything and it’s going to be a distinct advantage for a more defense-oriented football team, and I believe that’s what Seattle is,” Esiason told the crowd.
On Tuesday night, Gemfields-owned brand Fabergé held a party at M Studio in Manhattan to celebrate the Big Egg Hunt coming to New York in 2014, with models donning the brand’s designs for the night. The hunt, which took place in London last year, sends participants on a city-wide hunt in search of artist-decorated eggs, all for the chance of winning Fabergé jewels.
The hunt begins April 1. More than 250 large egg sculptures, each designed by well-known artists, designers, architects and brands, will be placed in various locations throughout the Big Apple’s five boroughs. Eggs on display at the event this week included this one by artist Jason Woodside.
Among those attending the Fabergé party was part-time jewelry designer Waris Ahluwalia, center, pictured here with Daniel Benedict, left, and Andrew Saffir. The Big Egg Hunt raises money for Studio in School, a charity focused on giving students a meaningful visual arts experience, and Elephant Family, which works to protect the Asian elephant.
