Silver Spotlight: Beth Macri

From one angle, they appear to be simple bars. But then the wearer flips the piece up, revealing a special letter, number or symbol chosen from a stock of characters created by Macri.
“The Hidden Messages collection was inspired from my years working as a structural engineer,” Macri told National Jeweler. “Engineers and architects work in cross sections; there is a lot of significant detail hidden from plain sight in buildings and structures. This collection represents the hidden details.”
Although the line is available both in sterling silver and 14-karat yellow and rose gold vermeil, Macri said she likes working in silver because it’s a great medium.
“It’s high quality and still affordable,” she said. “It looks beautiful when it is polished, yet acquires a beautiful patina over time. I also love how we can obtain the deep black from our oxidation process, giving the pieces much more depth and interest.”
