Platinum Spotlight: Featherstone Design
There’s two things in life Deidre Featherstone is not lacking: an assortment of beautiful gemstones, and a list of accolades relating to her jewelry design.

Based in New York’s Tribeca neighborhood, Featherstone Design primarily offers one-of-a-kind and interchangeable jewelry made in platinum and 18-karat gold with gemstones of “exceptional quality.” She’s known for her use of rare stones, which has netted her a total of 10 American Gem Trade Association Spectrum Awards throughout her career.
She’s also one of the Platinum Guild International’s “Master American Platinumsmiths,” sharing with National Jeweler that the metal “sits in the foreground and supports the show, extending the color of a jewel and the continuation of a diamond.”
“The heat requires you to work almost blind, from memory,” she said. “All you can see is the success indicated by an intense orange red line where a joint connects.”
These platinum and diamond “Random” hoops feature 23.67 carats of removable kunzite enhancers, also set in platinum with diamonds (hoops start at $20,000; enhancers sold separately).
This platinum and diamond ring features a 5.81-carat green sapphire, and took the American Gem Trade Association’s 2015 Manufacturing Honors Award (price upon request).
These platinum “Opal Flower” earrings feature diamonds, Paraiba tourmaline, purple spinel and opal, with removable enhancers also made in platinum with kunzite and diamonds (start at $30,000).
The custom, handmade “Valentine” bracelet is made in platinum with diamonds, tanzanite, bi-color tanzanite, amethyst, lavender spinel and iolite (price upon request).
These platinum earrings offer silver-gray South Sea baroque pearls, silver-white South Sea baroque pearls and diamonds (price upon request).
This 30-inch platinum and diamond riviere necklace features a bale clip with a 6.53-carat “rolling flash” opal, lavender spinel and diamonds, with a removable 10.09-carat Paraiba tourmaline and diamond enhancer (price upon request).
The “Opal Peacock” platinum earrings won in the “Best Use of Color” category in the American Gem Trade Association’s 2012 Spectrum Awards. Made in platinum, the earrings offer Paraiba tourmaline, opal and diamonds, and here are shown with platinum enhancers set with tanzanite, Paraiba tourmaline, opals and diamonds (price upon request).
This custom, handmade stack of platinum and diamond bangles feature hand-engraving (starting at $20,000).
The “Purple Peacock” earrings offer sky blue and light royal blue sapphires set in platinum with diamonds, and feature removable platinum enhancers made with 12.28 carats of tanzanite and diamonds (price upon request).
These platinum and diamond earrings offer 24.76 carats of yellow sapphires surrounded by diamond halos (price upon request).
