Diamond drops and studs rule Emmys
From drop earrings to studs and tennis bracelets to sweeping necklaces, diamond jewelry was the go-to look celebrities and stylists went for at the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards
Gina Rodriguez, Emmy presenter and star of the CW series Jane the Virgin, was dressed in Forevermark jewels for the evening. She wore a pair of 18-karat white gold and diamond “Circle” earrings and a Forevermark by Premier Gem cushion-shaped “The Center of My Universe” diamond ring with a pink diamond halo set in 18-karat rose gold and platinum.
From drop earrings to studs and tennis bracelets to sweeping necklaces, diamond jewelry was the go-to look celebrities and stylists went for at the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards, held Sunday in Los Angeles. It was a night of formal jewelry, void of risk or adventure but full of pieces that made a classic, safe statement.
One possible reason for the subdued jewels were the ornate, embellished and/or one-shoulder necklines on many gowns, a fact that could also account for the minimal amount of necklaces worn, said Amanda Gizzi, Jewelers of America’s director of public relations and special events.
Still, stylists and celebrities go for jewelry that draws attention to the face, so earrings from classic studs to longer, stick-like drops were prevalent. Stacked diamond wrist wear, such as bangles and tennis bracelets, also were a common trend. Click through this gallery to see 15 different diamond jewelry looks from the Emmys.
Gina Rodriguez, Emmy presenter and star of the CW series Jane the Virgin, was dressed in Forevermark jewels for the evening. She wore a pair of 18-karat white gold and diamond “Circle” earrings and a Forevermark by Premier Gem cushion-shaped “The Center of My Universe” diamond ring with a pink diamond halo set in 18-karat rose gold and platinum.
Rodriguez also donned a wrist full of Forevermark diamond bracelets, among them two three-stone The Center of My Universe bangle bracelets with round brilliant diamonds set in 18-karat white gold, and a tennis bracelet with round brilliants set in 18-karat white gold.
Emmy winner and Veep star Julia Louis-Dreyfus wore Chopard earrings, made in platinum with 27.78 carats of diamonds.
E! host Giuliana Rancic wore Forevermark by A. Link’s 18-karat white gold diamond stud earrings as well as Forevermark by Natalie K’s “Entwined” ring, with marquise and pear-shaped diamonds set in 18-karat white gold.
Taraji P. Henson of the TV series Empire accessorized with Neil Lane jewelry, wearing drop earrings, a ring and bracelet all made in platinum with diamonds that totaled $1 million.
Orange is the New Black’s Laura Prepon also accessorized with Forevermark jewels, among them Forevermark by Rahaminov “Dream” drop earrings with round brilliant diamonds set in 18-karat yellow gold.
Prepon also wore two Forevermark by Rahaminov rings, the “Bypass” and “Kiss Me” rings (top), both set with round brilliants in 18-karat yellow gold, as well as a Forevermark by Natalie K ring with marquise-shaped diamonds set in 18-karat yellow gold.
Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss donned Beladora’s pearl and diamond platinum earrings, as well as bracelets and rings from the brand.
Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones, wore Forevermark’s crossover necklace with pear- and oval-shaped diamonds set in platinum.
Lena Heady, also of Game of Thrones, wore platinum and diamond ear studs by Harry Kotlar.
Emmy winner and American Crime actress Regina King wore these earrings by Leeza Braun for Leo Schachter boasting 24.18 carats of diamonds ($75,000).
Niecy Nash of the HBO series Getting On wore Simon G.’s diamond and ruby ring set in white gold as well as a pair of white gold earrings.
Orange is the New Black’s Selenis Leyva wore these Davani by A&D Gem’s earrings set with 48.02 carats of black diamonds and 3.75 carats of round white diamonds ($30,000).
Silicon Valley’s Suzanne Cryer also donned Davani by A&D Gem jewelry, wearing an emerald necklace boasting a 62.20-carat emerald and more than 12 carats of diamonds ($109,288).
Diane Guerrero of Orange is the New Black accessorized with Leo Schachter’s diamond earrings ($68,500), as well as a diamond cuff from LVE by Leo Schachter ($72,000).
Kerry Washington wore Harry Winston’s platinum and diamond ear studs, as well as two of the brand’s diamond bands.
Dascha Polanco, also from Orange is the New Black, wore a $1 million necklace by Yanina & Co. for lab-grown diamond company Pure Grown (formerly Gemesis), set with 76 carats of emerald-cut, lab-grown diamonds.
